Manuscript page of “Mario and the Magician“

For our initiative, the Thomas-Mann-Archive at ETH Zurich shared a very rare treasure with us: The only remaining manuscript page of “Mario and the Magician“! 

Thomas Mann worked on the manuscript in 1929, during a beach holiday in the Baltic Sea resort of Rauschen. “The story is taken from out of the air,” Mann wrote, referring to the political climate in Germany. We are very grateful for this contribution.
